About MeMy name is Jeremy Horner and I am a teacher at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. This year I am teaching Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry. I graduated from Butler University in May 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education. While at Butler I completed over 40 credit hours of chemistry-intensive coursework to obtain a content area certification in chemistry. I was very fortunate to have excellent student teaching assignments at Ben Davis High School and Brownsburg High School, teaching many different and wonderful students. I am originally from Mitchell, Indiana and grew up in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. I attended Mitchell High School and graduated in a class of approximately 130 students. I had many great and motivating teachers that, in part, inspired me to pursue a career in science and education. One of the most important values I learned from my experiences in a small town and small school is fostering a sense of community. I am now very excited to be a part of the Carmel High School community! I believe very strongly in the ability of all students to learn, and the sciences are one of the best opportunities at engaging and challenging students' problem solving and critical thinking skills. I also believe in teaching students the nature of science, supporting the needs of diverse learners, and teaching valuable 21st Century skills. I have outlined these ideas in my philosophy of education which can be found below (will be uploaded soon). Once again, I am looking forward to a new and exciting year at Carmel High School! For more information follow the links to their webpages: | About This SiteI have created this website as an important education tool to help teach students computer skills. This year the website is designed to be a resource for students and parents to stay up-to-date on classroom assignments and activities. Assignments, calendars, policies, academic standards and more can be found throughout the site. In the future, I plan to expand the use of the website from teaching resource to teaching tool. It is my hope that the site can be used for online submission of homework, online collaboration, and student website projects. The site is registered and maintained by me for a small annual fee. It is hosted on Google servers. The site is extremely functional due to the incorporation of the powerful Google applications directly into all of the pages of the site. All graphics on the site were created using Adobe Illustrator. Special ThanksTo the Butler University professors who encouraged me and gave me the tools to be the teacher that I am today:
To my student teaching mentor teachers who welcomed me into their classrooms and gave me wonderful experiences and a lot to learn from:
